Recording
Application Rate
Data
If you have a variable rate planter controller, electronic anhydrous controller,
or electronic sprayer controller, you can connect the yield monitor to your
controller and automatically record the application rate and GPS data on the
monitor’s memory card. You still will use your application rate controller
to manually adjust the application rate. But you can use your yield
monitor to record application data at every point in the field and produce a
map of what was applied.
Monitor Setup
The yield monitor tees into your application rate controller wiring harness to
obtain flow-meter speed, stop and start area count signals, power, and
ground speed (the common Raven and Hiniker ground speed sensors will not
work; in those cases you will have to use a radar gun). You also must obtain
a free application rate chip for your yield monitor from Ag Leader
Technology.
Installation
Equipment
Ag Leader Technology sells brackets and cables for installing the monitor in
a tractor or other vehicle. Refer to the “Instructions for Modular Tractor Kit
Order Form” in this section of the manual and order the application rate chip
and parts needed to connect to the application rate controller.
Exclusions
The following exclusions apply:
The monitor cannot monitor spray systems that use a pressure sensor to
control spray rate (primarily Dickey-john controllers) unless you add a
flow meter to your sprayer.
Also the yield monitor box can monitor only one application rate sensor
at a time.
