Yield Monitor 2000
Logging Yield Map Data
Ag Leader Technology
to a Datalogger
June 1997
4-43
Using a Datalogger
Instead of a
Memory Card
If you use a datalogger instead of a memory card in the yield monitor to
record instantaneous yield and GPS information, you will lose the ability to
recalibrate your instantaneous yield data.
Example: If you cannot calibrate the monitor until the third field you
harvest, the instantaneous yield data from the first two fields will not be
calibrated and your yields may be inaccurate in those fields. If you use a
memory card to record the data, you can recalibrate the data for the first two
fields, and the yields will be accurate.
Datalogger Setup
Your datalogger supplier will provide the necessary cables and installation
instructions for the datalogger. The datalogger connects to the monitor’s
nine-pin port. The GPS receiver connects directly to the datalogger, not to
the monitor.
Follow these steps to set up the monitor to send data to an external
datalogger or computer:
Step Action
1 Press the SETUP key until “LOGGING DEVICE=NONE or EXT
or ?M CARD” appears on the display.
2 Use the top UP or DOWN ARROW keys to set this to “LOGGING
DEVICE=EXT”.
EXT sends these 11 channels of data through the nine-pin serial port once
per second in an ASCII data format:
Feet traveled by combine in previous second
Ground speed in mph
Area count status
Elevator speed
Swath in inches
Wet grain flow rate in lb/sec
Instantaneous yield in bu/ac
Percent moisture
Field number
Load number
Monitor serial number
