Troubleshooting
Yield Monitor 2000
Ag Leader Technology
June 1997
6-10
Solution: Make sure the area count switch is in the up position (if it is in
the down position, the area count light is always on) and the stop height
number is set low enough so that when you lower the head, the area
count light turns off. Refer to the troubleshooting instructions for “Area
Count Light Always On”.
Incorrect Moisture
You must have grain flow before you can have a moisture reading, otherwise
your moisture will always be 5 percent.
1. Moisture has not been calibrated or the calibration is incorrect.
Solution: If you have not calibrated for moisture, refer to the Moisture
document in the Calibration section.
Press the MOIST key to display the moisture calibration number “x.x%
OFFSET”. This number is normally between -8% and +8%. If it is
noticeably different, calibrate moisture again.
If you have calibrated the moisture at very high moistures (28% to 35%),
and now are harvesting at lower moistures, it may be difficult to find a
calibration offset number that is exactly correct for both moisture levels.
You should either choose a calibration offset number that is close for
both levels of moisture or set all the high moisture loads to a separate
grain type and enter a new calibration offset number for that grain type.
2. There is a bad connection in the cabling or the cable has been damaged
(moisture readings of 5% or erratic).
Solution: Disconnect and reconnect the moisture sensor cable,
distribution cable, and cab cable. Look for pins that have corrosion or
any cables that have nicks or have gotten pinched.
Examine the moisture sensor cable where it exits the moisture sensor (90
degree elbow connector body) for marks on the sheath that could have
been made if the cable was pulled through the connector strain relief. The
cable may have been pulled on when wet grain was unloaded from the
grain tank.
Check the temperature reading (press the MOIST key). If it is -20
degrees, you probably have a bad connection or cable.
3. The temperature calibration is incorrect (moisture too high or too low).
Solution: If you have not calibrated temperature yet, refer to the
Temperature document in the Calibration section.
Press the MOIST key to display the temperature calibration number, “x.x
